Piers Island: Piers Island is located (48°42'N., 123°25'W) just north of Swartz Bay (Saanich Peninsula) and is bounded by Satellite Channel, Colburne Passage and Shute Passage. The island is about 250 acres (100 hectares) with residential lots (approximately 130) on the waterfront. The interior of the island being about 158 acres (63.9 hectares) has been left in its natural state (to be maintained and preserved) with trails. Plus there is a common meadow/park and orchard area on the oceanfront (north side). This peaceful and tranquil island has a variety of wildlife, bird and marine life. There is a circular dirt road (no individual cars) going around the entire island. The Island has its own Volunteer Fire Department and within the hall, there is a common meeting area.
